Jennifer jumped into quilting feet first without tools or significant
knowledge of the craft. In her first quilt, she used old record-album
covers as templates and pieced chintz florals. She acquired a rotary
cutter and a straight edge by the time she made her second quilt, but
she used her kitchen cutting board instead of a rotary mat. Jennifer
has since become far more sophisticated and much kinder to her
equipment.
A long-time leisure arts writer, Jennifer wrote the "Feature Teacher"
column for
The Quilter magazine for seven years and contributed to
Fabric Trends.
A Dozen Roses is her fifth quilting title and her third
collaboration with Catherine Comyns.
Catherine's first sewing project was a dress for her little sister. A
bossy eight-year-old, she plunked her sister on top of a length of
seersucker and traced a pattern for an A-line sheath, which she tacked
together with running stitches. Everybody loved her inventiveness, but
to her disappointment, there was no runway debut at Sunday services.
Undaunted by the mixed reviews, Catherine kept sewing and found a true
passion for sewn crafts, especially quiltmaking. An award-winning
quilter, Catherine judges quilt shows and teaches knitting and
quiltmaking.
A Dozen Roses is Catherine's third book collaboration with
Jennifer Rounds.
